Check Out All the Beautiful Foliage – Blue Ridge Scenic Railway – ALL ABOARD!!!

I absolutely love living in Blue Ridge where I get to hear the sound of the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway each day.  It is fun to go downtown and see all of the smiling faces on the train, waving at us, as they are headed on a one hour journey to their destination in the sister towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee.  Copperhill/McCaysville is considered one town because it is where the state line splits Georgia and Tennessee.

The train ride is approximately one hour each way with a two hour layover in McCaysville.  Here, you can shop at the various boutiques and antique stores, eat lunch or enjoy a snack before you board the train and head back to Blue Ridge.

Your train ride will take you along the beautiful Toccoa River.  You can choose to ride in an open air rail or vintage climate controlled car.  Whichever you choose, you will certainly enjoy viewing all of the beautiful leaves this time a year on your 26 mile journey.

Check their website for all of the fun days coming up.  I had recently blogged about the western train ride that takes place each year.  Read about that and make your plans for next year!  This Saturday, October 6th is Hobo day, the 28th, the kids can ride to farmer Brown’s pumpkin farm and pick their very own pumpkin!  Make plans now to enjoy the ride going to see Santa at Christmas time.

I hope you enjoy your train ride.  It is a wonderful family outing together.  When you return to Blue Ridge, there will still be time to enjoy all the great shops in the downtown area.  You must also stop by the train store to get that souvenir that your kiddos will love!  Have fun!
