North Georgia Mountain Weekend “Happenings” – May 17th-19th
This week is turning out to be absolutely beautiful in the North Georgia Mountains. The rain seems to be behind us as we still enjoy some cool mornings and temperatures this week going into the low 80′s. A perfect time to visit (however, I think anytime is a perfect time to visit the mountains!!!) Here are a variety of fun activities for you and your family to choose for this coming weekend! As always, check out The Mountain Life Team’s calendar as well.
FANNIN

Time For Some Water Fun! – Young Harris Water Sports
It’s getting that time of year to enjoy some good quality time on beautiful North Georgia mountain lakes such as Lake Blue Ridge, Nottely, Carters and Lake Chatuge. Many that live on the lakes or frequent this area often have their own boats and jet skis, however, many don’t. Young Harris Water Sports will rent a variety of water equipment and deliver it to you! All four of the lakes listed above are on their service route!
Maybe you are thinking of buying a boat or jet ski but are not real sure about your decision. What a better way to decide than to try it out! They offer a variety of packages including half day rentals or even full week water sports vacations. Some people love the water but with time constraints, can’t get to the lake as often as they would like to justify owning their own equipment. There is a lot of expense to owning your own and this may be more suitable.
Develop Your Child’s Artistic Side!! – Summer Art Camps – Blue Ridge
Last summer my kids couldn’t wait to get to their art class at the Art Center in downtown Blue Ridge. Whether you live in this quaint North Georgia Mountain town, or vacation during the summer months, these are inexpensive, yet informative classes for your children or grandchildren to develop their artistic ability.
What I enjoy about them, is they are not all day but a two hour time slot so the kids can do this, then have time to burn off some energy at the city pool the rest of the day! There are a variety of classes to choose from including clay building, painting, building elf and fairy houses, drawing horses and a ton more. Most cost $25 for four days and some have extra supply fees. All are taught by experienced artists!
The classes fill up quickly so grab your child’s spot. I will be blogging on more summer ideas of fun camps and adventures that you can get your children involved in. The North Georgia Mountains is full of beauty for outdoors as well as focuses heavily on the arts. My kids are very excited to be signed up again for more art learning!
5 Ideas of How to Celebrate Mothers Day in the Mountains!!!
Motherhood is a true gift from God and the absolute most wonderful blessing. If you are a mom, these may give you some ideas to share with your family on ways you would like to celebrate in the good ole North Georgia Mountains! Or, you may be looking to really pamper and show your mom what she means to you. If both of you are moms, take this opportunity to celebrate together! There are a variety of ways to enjoy your special day or even the whole weekend!
****Visit the Mothers Day Arts and Crafts Show at Brasstown Valley Resort. If you have never had an opportunity to visit this beautiful place, you are in for a treat. They also serve amazing food here and will be doing so again on May 12th for a special Mothers Day brunch! Also,I have attended their craft shows before and they always exceed my expectations. So, come enjoy lunch, a craft show and the beauty of the mountains.
****The Lodge at Copperhead will also be hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch! Take a look at the amazing menu for that special day. $23.95 a plate and mothers are half price!
Experience the Beautiful Art of Glass Blowing – Goldhagen Art & Glass
If you appreciate art, the beauty of color and how talented many people are, you will certainly enjoy visiting Goldhagen Art & Glass, located in Hayesville NC, off the shores of Lake Chatuge! From a viewing balcony, you can enjoy watching artist David Goldhagen as he creates amazing glass masterpieces including glass tables, perfume bottles, ornaments and much more.
What a unique date or family outing as you get to see this amazing artist use 1000 year old glassblowing methods with a variety of molten glass in temperatures about 2000 degrees! In the summer, for over 10 years, he has hosted “hot summer nights” where you can watch him work and enjoy a gourmet dessert while listening to live music! A summer schedule will be posted soon!
