Live Music Is Better Series – May 3rd – Presents Michelle Malone
If you didn’t know, the Blue Ridge Community Theater not only hosts many plays throughout the year with very talented actors and actresses but they have a series called “Live Music is Better” which features exactly what the title says…Live music! This coming weekend, an artist by the name of Michelle Malone, will be sharing her soul filled vocals, harmonica playing skills and more on May 3rd.
Michelle has appeared on countless “best of” lists and has been the recipient of such awards as Best Female Vocalist (five times) and Best Acoustic Guitarist (three times) (Creative Loafing), Studio Album of the Year (Atlanta Magazine), and Live Album of the year. Her albums Sugar Foot and Debris, released on SBS Records, were both on the Grammy Award ballot for best Contemporary Blues and Best Americana Albums respectively.

Make Plans for Kids Fishing Rodeo – June 8th!
Go ahead and get your little fisherman practiced up and ready to enjoy competing in a fishing rodeo on June 8th. They will be held at two different parks. Depending on where you live or where you will be vacationing, you have your choice between a rodeo at Vogel State Park in Blairsville or Amicalola State Park.
At Vogel, this rodeo is for children 12 and under. Wolf Creek will be stuffed with plenty of trout for your little angler fisherman. There will be a few poles available but would be best to bring your own. At Amicalola, this will be for kids 16 and younger. Starts at 8am and ends at 10am. That is when adults are able to start fishing! There will be prizes awarded at each rodeo.
It’s always fun to see kids have a great time out in nature and doing something they enjoy! So if you have a child that you think would really like this, bring them out this summer to one of these great state parks!
2 Free Educational Events at Amicalola Falls! – This Saturday – April 27th
I always like the word free when it comes to family fun! Things get so expensive these days when we try to take our kids places. Sometimes, the best memories we make are when we do basic things together that aren’t a bunch of “hoopla!” Get your kids away from the TV and video games this weekend and take them to Amicalola Falls, one of Georgia’s most popular state parks.
This Saturday there are two free events that are educational and if your children love animals, should really enjoy. The first event is from 10 to 11am and is called “For Goodness Snakes” Your boys should love this one as they will show various snakes and discuss how snakes help control rodent populations and are an important part of our ecosystem. Come learn about these misunderstood reptiles. Meet at the Park Visitor Center. The ONLY cost is $5 to park. The event itself is free.
